Profile:
If you’re a fan of Formula 1 in the United Kingdom for the past decade, chances are you’ve heard of Ben Anderson. Anderson is one of the best British F1 journalists in recent times, bringing in a mix of incredible insight and engaging structure to his reports.
Anderson’s reporting skills were picked up by Autosport at an early age. Autosport scooped up Anderson in 2008, shortly after he completed his internship training at The Surrey Mirror. His stay in Autosport lasted for nine years, earning him many opportunities from both the national and international motorsport scene.
Anderson moved to Motorsport Network in 2017, shortly after Motorsport Network had acquired Autosport in 2016. He continued to perfect his craft with Motorsport, enough for The Race to sign him up to their media team starting from July 2022.
Anderson still works for The Race to this day, but there’s a lesser known fact about the Brit. Not only is Anderson great at reporting, he also showed quite the expertise behind the wheel of a race car.
His first proper racing experience came in 2008, where Porsche invited him for a one-off in Porsche Carrera Cup GB. Anderson received more chances in the following years, mostly in the regional scene where he became the runner-up of 750MC’s Formula Vee Championship in 2010.
His skills both on and off the track was noticed by EuroNASCAR, who invited Anderson to compete in the 2012 season to bring more attention to the then-recently established series. Anderson accepted it and chose to compete in the one track that he calls home: Brands Hatch.
Anderson slotted himself in Rapido Racing’s No. 06 car as the teammate of Anthony Garbarino in EuroNASCAR OPEN. Despite having little to no experience with stock cars in general, he had no issues adapting to the big, powerful EuroNASCAR stock cars.
Anderson’s adaptability was shown in the results. The Brit scored a podium on his debut race and just missed out on back-to-back rostrum finishes in Race 2, missing out to Rapido’s team boss and teammate Joaquin Gabarron.
